Daniel w. Fletcher
DANIEL w. FLETCHER is a London-based contemporary menswear brand, established in 2015 after Daniel Fletcher graduated from Central Saint Martins.
Originally from the North West of England, Daniel moved to London to study and gained experience at Louis Vuitton, Victoria Beckham, Burberry and Lanvin before starting his brand. Daniel's eponymous label made its mark immediately when Opening Ceremony bought his graduate collection, and produced a capsule collection of eight of his designs for Spring/Summer '16. Now stocked with premium and luxury department stores all over the world such as Liberty, Beams International Gallery and SSense, as well as on the brands own e-commerce platform.
Daniel was nominated for the prestigious LVMH prize in 2017, was one of the winners of the European Semi-Final of the International Woolmark Prize in 2018 and has received the Future British Award as well as being named as one of Drapers 30 Under 30.
After many successful seasons showing his collections on the London Fashion Week Men’s schedule, Daniel took part in Netflix’s ‘Next in Fashion’ series which saw Daniel get to the final. This year also marks his first season as Artistic Director with iconic Italian label Fiorucci.
Daniel produces deeply personal collections that explore his thoughts on current affairs and social issues. With a focus on casual luxury each collection combines timeless shapes and new fabrics and motifs. These collections have been presented on the LFWM schedule in a number of different formats, across digital, presentation and runway and the brand is now in its eighth season.
21 AW COLLECTION
Staple split-hem trousers, contrast stitch denim and bound-edge shirts that have each become synonymous with DWF will line the rails at 18 Marine Drive, but Fletcher also introduces the Beach Shop, sitting proudly in the centre of the store. Here is an eco-friendly take on the traditional bucket and spade stalls the British seaside is known for. Fletcher has produced his own range of recycled frisbees, paper windmills, DWF sticks of rock wrapped in compostable wrapping to sit alongside organic cotton jerseys and pairs of swim shorts made using recycled plastics collected from the ocean.
The Margate summer outpost pulls in the nautical references seen throughout the AW21 collection, which features sailor-style wool overshirts paired with optic white denim jeans and ribbed fisherman style sweaters that come with sleeves slashed and front-opening zips added. Patchwork checkerboard styles first seen in Fletcher’s debut womenswear collection in February 2021 will also be made available for the first time in genderless fits and styles. The beaches of Margate and the further spread of the Kent coast was also the location of the DWF seasonal campaign that sees emerging actor William Franklin Miller lensed by Fabien Kruszelnicki.
This summer DANIEL w. FLETCHER heads to Margate to launch the designer's first seasonal store. Located on the sea front of the town’s marina area, the two-storey space will be home to the first release of Fletcher’s AW21 collection, as well as exclusive pieces inspired by the English coastal town that will host the brand throughout July and August.
The ground floor of the store will showcase the best of the DWF collection, with the lower ground playing host to a series of events and workshops during the two month Margate tenure. Transformed into a DWF studio-on-sea, with support from MADE, the space will be used for quilting and arts workshops, queer book-club meets, poetry readings and other events in partnership with local artists and businesses which can be booked at danielwfletcher.com
